Rehabilitation Delivered: American Custom Coach Builds Mobile Units for California Prison Society

Most units leave the line finished, but in the case of the California Prison mobile units, they specifically asked for an unfinished product.
The reasoning deals with a plan for rehabilitation. The remaining construction will be performed by inmates in the state of California. The three units were purchased by the California Prison Industry Authority, which provides job assignments for inmates in California-based adult correctional facilities.
The California Prison Industry Authority  has an extensive plan for rehabilitating inmates in the state in an effort to not just warehouse inmates, but change them for the better.
The mobile units will go to a system that provides labor for about 5,900 inmates at 22 prisons statewide.
American Custom Coach accepted the project due to its potential impact on the community. Charlie Mello, President and CEO of American Custom Coach said “Reaching beyond the physical element and into the spiritual and emotional element of recovery is important. This project enables individuals with a difficult past to move past their convictions and become a functioning human being once again.”
“This is a project I could not pass up,” Mello said.
